We've come up with some guidelines (read rules) and helpful tips to assist our community to better use ProSoundWeb.com Live Audio Board. Please help us by following these basic guidelines.
The Board Moderator is responsible for maintaining the level of content quality and interaction within the board. Each Board Moderator welcomes your opinions and comments, and reserves the right to edit, delete, or remove users from the board who are not adhering to our policies, written, or otherwise dictated.
The Board Moderator is responsible for monitoring the board. When appropriate they will close out a discussion or declare a topic inappropriate for the board.
If you have a problem with something going on, contact the Board Moderator. Board users can make suggestions to the Board Moderator, but only the Board Moderator can set policy, and the Board Moderator has final say.
If you aren't positive what the answer is, don't speculate or guess. Let someone who does know answer it instead, or go research the question to make sure. Don't guess, because you may be wrong, and someone may believe you. If someone is asking for an opinion, that's one thing. Don't confuse fact with opinion. If you base an opinion on a technical fact, be sure you can provide documentation. ProSoundWeb.com Live Audio Board is used as an educational resource, and we want our community to have the most accurate technical data.
It's illegal to post material from newspapers, magazines, online services or wire services to ProSoundWeb.com Live Audio Board. This includes information from other pro audio based Web sites and manufacturer provided literature. Unless you have explicit permission to redistribute the information, AND it pretains to an on topic discussion, do not post it to the ProSoundWeb.com Live Audio Board. We suggest users post the URL to the article and a short summary of the article to the board and allow users to go look up the original source themselves. We want the community to be informed on fair use and copyright issues. Nolo Press has a copyright information page at http://www.nolo.com/category/pct_home.html, or visit the Stanford Univerisity Fair Use Site at http://fairuse.stanford.edu/. We will deny access to repeat offenders.
Chain letters are not permitted on ProSoundWeb.com Live Audio Board. If you post a chain letter of any type, you will be denied access to the board. This includes forwarding any kind of mass mailing, any message encouraging users to contact a user or group or any message that encourages others to re-send the letter to other people.
As an example, Craig Shergold is not a kid, not sick, and whatever hospital the latest version of this hoax is attached to is sick and tired of getting the postcards.
Nearly all of the virus warnings distributed around the net are hoaxes. Do not post it yourself under any circumstances. If you do, we will deny you access to the board. We want you to be informed on this issue, please visit CIAC's Internet Hoaxes page, http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHoaxes.html or the The Computer Virus Myth page, http://kumite.com/myths/
Please use a Subject that matches the content of your message. As discussions continue, they sometimes wander. When they do, change the Subject line to match.
This is a written environment, and how you write something is as important as what you say. If it's worth saying to others, it's worth taking a little time to make it readable. That said, DO NOT flame someone for spelling or grammer, it's just plain lame.
If you include quoted material, edit it ruthlessly. When you respond to a message, quote the relevant part(s) as part of your message, but only that part.
We welcome and encourage all to post opinions, observations and other nuggets. However, think before you hit that submit button. Is this something that you want several thousand pro audio users to see? Avoid "me too" and "yeah, what he said" posts. They only waste bandwidth. If someone posts something off topic, IGNORE them. Don't try to police the board, or offer response to an obviously off topic post. A good rule of thumb to follow, is that if it's been up for a day or so, then Mission Control has deemed the post worthy. If it's obviously not about live audio, IGNORE it. The Moderators will take care of it.

Email addresses are on the board only so Site Admins and others can judge the validity of a post. You are not to use these address for unsolicited commerce, or any means other than to communicate with the poster about that particular post, if you don't know them already. We'll come down hard on anyone violating this rule. You have my word.....
