: Hi Bink
: Perhaps you know, that Lectrosonics now has the 700 system out. It is not absolutely bulletproof, but it will take af few million years to decode the transmission - well - could be a few hundred or thousand - don't remember precisely. I know it is marketed now in the US.
Hey, cool! I'll look into it.
Last time I did the 'spyproof' gig we convinced them to go with wired mics. How's that for security?
Earlier, we bought and returned a Telex SAFE RS-1 -- the red plastic unit that sounded like early low-bit-rate Real Audio. Horrible! We had wired mics standing by and they used them.
I haven't hear the new Telex SAFE-1000 yet.
There's also a very nice Zaxcom digital UHF mic -- gets excellent marks for sound quality from the film crew audio guys I talked to. Expensive!
The Sabine 2.4GHz spread-spectrum mic was under consideration simply because it would be so difficult to listen in on.
Finally, I found no infra-red wireless mic that had a great enough range. And I was worried about dropout with all the hot stage lighting interference.
Thanks again for the referral to the Lectro UDF700!
