Heat and or bad solders are not the culprit here. At certain locations the digital effects just won't work. I need help!
The next time the effects don't work, stick an AC voltmeter into the mains socket and note the reading.
betcha it's not 120V.

PS: overvoltage is as bad as undervoltage.
PPS: some gizmos with universal switching supplies will work from about 90V up to 240V.
