...you mean besides GWAR?!?

OK, this is kind of cruel, but this guy brought it on himself too.

I'm patchbitch on an annual festival - multi day, multi act, artsy sort of thing. This night was reggae/R&B night. The headliner had taken the stage "hostage" since 9:00am (until 4:30) and one of the two openers is getting set up. After setting monitor levels with our ME, the BE wanders out to FOH, gets his Quadra-hiss patched in (he just HAD to have it!) and settles in. Quick line check, and they're off.

Fast detour to describe the FOH setup. 4k and racks on a 18"-ish riser with 7'6"scaf (sort of)surrounding it and going up to become lights/spot tower. I say "sort of, because the scaff only covered the racks, not the console, as the 4k wouldn't fit under the scaf they had (too wide). Here's the bad part. The 7'6"scaf was set on the ground as well, so minus the 18" for the riser, well...let's just say I'm glad I'm only 5'7"!

Back to our friend the guest BE. After the band gets going, I meander out to FOH to listen a bit. As I step onto the riser our FOH tech leans over and sez, "Hey, watch this..."

"...Hey, Andy!" and points to something in the rack.

KRAAANNNGGGG! as the guys head careens of the scaffold.

Come to find out this guy had been doing it the whole time he was out there. And most of the time it was just him turning around to look at something (no "help" from our guy).

I dunno, but I think if it was me, I would have learned to duck after the first time.

PS, if by some slim chance that this guy was one of the "Andy"s that live here...I'm sorry. :-)
