I know him, they broke the mold before they made Doug. One time he sold some pot to a Reggae band that was so good that they smoked some and got so stoned that they left the rest behind. I found it in the front of the semi trailer when we loaded out. Should I mention the time I pushed about 90 gallons of water off a roof onto Roger Miller (he was a good sport), or the time I pushed probably 500 gallons on to Great White's guitar land (they were not amused) or the time I fell off a stack with a speaker and broke my leg during setup. At least that was before the show and not during it-Rusty-thanks again for covering for me that day. I got a sympathy card from the band for that one. It said, "break your leg skiing next time, it's more fun."
: Almost ten years ago, we had The Fabulous Thunderbirds here. About halfway through the show Kevin, their FOH guy, tells me the direct line from the bass has died, and instructs me to run up and get Doug, their stage manager, to go onstage and wiggle the wire.
: Doug was in guitar world, which was walled off from the audience's prying eyes, barely, by a pile of cases and case lids. As I stepped into the Dougzone, I saw Doug sitting there with a silly grin on his face, and the back of "Sweet Sweet" Connie's head bobbing up and down in his lap. I quietly backed my way out of guitar world and returned to FOH and asked Kevin if he could live with just the mic line for the bass for the rest of the show.
: Doug's little protected zone was on the floor in front of the stage, in the audience. The audience couldn't see in, but the guys on stage could see everything.
