With current analysis tools and powerful and inexpensive DSP, 1/3 octave eq's are are pretty harsh tool to apply. Now I'm not predicting that they'll go away,(see "paperless office"),but that their value will be reduced to that of a general voicing tool, rather than anything corrective.

In a properly set-up rig I'd be reaching for the strip eq (quasi-parametric typ.) on the offending channel, rather than blunt-force traumatizing the individual mix.

That said, I'd be more comfy with a variable inflection type filter - old KT or UREI style. Best wishes on the shoot-out.
