Because of two reasons, Charlie. First, the notional use is specified as monitor wedges. You have to have a fast fix for monitors. I think of parametrics as slower though they are more accurate.

Secondly, I didn't see a need to sort out the different parametrics. Basically, they are ALL good, with small differences in the amount of noise added with each filter thrown into the signal chain and other variations that are less than a concern to the end user. Graphic EQs have some major differences in filter topology.

The truth is that there will be a few graphic EQs under test that include notch filters and/or parametric filters. These units will likely have a leg up in monitor wedge EQ-ing.

Personally, I like to have both parametric and graphic EQs in line for monitors. Parametrics for the pre-show tweak and graphics for voicing and fast on-the-fly fixes.
