Interesting observation, Dave. Yes, I'll look at the 6dB button in the Shootout. If the Yammie I get and the Yammie you tested both have less headroom at 6dB then we have a Grand Total of two units that show this characteristic. Woo Hoo. That's the problem with noting flaws or faults, your sample size is so small. Great specs, however, are not prone to false positives. If the Shootout shows a couple of incredible EQs with overall great specs then even a sample size of one is conclusive.

There was a time when a tall rack of these EQs was all I had access to for monitor duties. In fact, my first big mon gig was performed using them -- Tito Puente and a huge salsa band that maxed out the 800B I was driving. A zillion mixes and sidefills plus boatloads of 'verb on the damn flute. Some things never change! But yes, I still see a few of these in hotel AV departments here and there, some with non-working channels and some with missing fader knobs. Got pliers or a skinny screwdriver? I gotta tweak the 10kHz slider. I agree with you, there's nothing like a piece of gear that hangs on like an unwelcome houseguest.
