Garbage? Can you qualify that? Maybe you mean the faders aren't as durable as the sealed pots. Or do you mean to say the sound quality is lower?
I haven't used 4650s ever so I'm interested in seeing one in action.
Michael Grass is going to bring a White 4001 (pots, not faders) so we'll have at least one White represented. The 4001 and the 4400 are a little different -- on the inputs the 4001 is transformer balanced while the 4400 is e-balanced, both via barrier strip which makes me think White never saw the need for these pups in a mobile live sound setup.
There might be some circuit differences between the 4400 and 4001 as well but I can't see by looking at my spec sheets. The 4001 is called RLC in the filter section and the 4400 is called LC active.
Nobody has offered a 4x50 for the Shootout yet. White calls this one RC Active.
